Key Points WEPL Premier
Division Rules 2 – 1st and 2nd XI unless stated.
(subject to confirmation at WEPL
AGM in January 2010)
Playing Conditions:
- Batting side to provide ball
for each innings..
- Umpires to be provided by
ACUS for 1st XI matches. There are unlikely to be enough ACUS
umpires to officiate in 2nd XI matches.
- Home team to provide umpires
with box of 4 replacement balls
- 1st XI matches are
of maximum 50 over innings starting at 1:15 p.m, 12:45 last 3 matches
- 2nd XI matches are
of maximum 45 over innings starting at 1:45 p.m, 1.15 p.m. last 3 matches
- 1st XI matches can
only be cancelled with the explicit agreement of at least one umpire
appointed for the match or an appointed local deputy.
Rules
- Any unused overs to be transferred to side batting second in the
event of dismissal or declaration
- Four fielders + bowler and
wicketkeeper to be inside 30 yard fielding circle
- Bowler can bowl maximum of
30% of overs in an innings (i.e. 15 in full
innings 1st XI; 13 in full innings 2nd XI)
- Matches can be reduced by 2 overs for every 7 minutes lost if there are delays at
start or interruptions in the first innings but match is abandoned if it
becomes less than 60 over match
- Innings can be reduced by 1
over for every 3˝ minutes lost if there are
interruptions in the second innings but NO RESULT if the second innings
isn’t at least 30 overs, otherwise match decided
by highest runs per over.
- Each TEAM (1st
& 2nd XI) has to
field at least nine English qualified players
- One Overseas Player (as
opposed to Overseas Exempt) is allowed in each team BUT if the CLUB
registers two overseas player, one must be nominated as the 1st
XI player at the start of the season
- Overseas Exempt players must
either be a full time student in the UK or have been permanently resident
in the UK for 2 years before the start of the season and not have been
earning from playing cricket in that time
- Players contracted to a first
class county who were registered with WEPL by club for the two seasons
prior to be contracted are eligible to play. In additional each club can
play ONE player contracted to a first class county who was not registered
with the club in the two previous seasons.
Points
- 10 points for win
- 5 points for a tie
- batting points at
125.150,175,200, 225 1st XI matches, 100, 125, 150, 175 and 200
2nd XI matches
- additional batting point for
every 2 wickets in hand if winning when batting second
- bowling 1 pt for each 2
wickets taken
- 2 bonus points for dismissing
team for 120 or less
- league will be probably be
decided on aggregate points but the points allocation for cancelled/abandoned
matches in not yet clear)
- 2 PENALTY points if overs not bowled in allotted time – 3˝ minutes per
over +10 minutes (185 minutes for 50 overs; 168
minutes for 45 overs)
Administration
- All players must be
registered with WEPL by midnight on the Friday before their
first match
- Home team to post result and
points on-line by midday Sunday
- Away team to confirm result
and points on-line
- Umpires assessment to be
posted on-line by midday Sunday
- Home team to post complete scoresheet on-line by midday Wednesday
- FAILURE TO COMPLY WILL INCUR
A POINTS DEDUCTION
Promotion and Relegation
The top
two teams in Premier Two 1st XI and 2nd XI will be
promoted to the respective 1st and 2nd XI divisions of
Premier One.
The
bottom two teams in Premier Two 1st XI will be relegated to the
divisions below - in the case of Somerset based clubs to the Bristol &
Somerset Division.
In the
event of the relegation of the 1st XI, the 2nd XI will be
relegated to the equivalent 2nd XI competition IRRESPECTIVE of their
finishing position in their
2nd
XI competition.
