Registration and Membership

 

Membership of the Junior Section of the Club is open to all Young People (hereinafter referred to as “Juniors”) over the age of 8 years and under the age of 18 years without discrimination. However, both Registration and Medical Forms MUST be completed for all Children by a parent, guardian or carer (hereinafter referred to as “Parents”) and such registration is a pre-requisite of membership and of participation in training sessions or matches.

 

Completed forms should be returned at the first training session or match attended by the Junior and accompanied by the current subscription fee. The Club cannot accept any responsibility for unregistered Juniors. As members of the club, all Juniors must abide by the Code of Conduct detailed in these conditions.

 

Child Protection

 

The Club is committed to the future development of children through participation in cricket and fully complies with the England & Wales Cricket Board (ECB) Safe Hands – Welfare of Young People in Cricket requirements for Child Protection .

 

All training sessions and matches are supervised by qualified ECB coaches and all Team Managers, coaches and other Club officials working with Juniors have undergone appropriate Criminal Records (CRB) checks

 

During these training sessions and matches, the Club complies with the ECB directives for Juniors regarding wearing of protective equipment in cricket, fast bowling directives and fielding regulations.

 

In compliance with ECB requirements, the Club has appointed a Welfare Officer who should be the first point of contact on any issues relating to Child Protection.

 

Equipment and Clothing

 

Current ECB regulations for protective equipment for children under the age of 18 are:

 

·         Helmets with a faceguard or grille (compliant to British Standard BS7928:1998) should be worn when batting against a hard cricket ball in matches and in practice sessions

·         Helmets or face protectors should also be worn be young wicket-keepers when standing up to the stumps. At the moment, there is no British Standard in place for face protectors.

·         When batting, in addition to a helmet, young players should wear pads, gloves and, for boys, an abdominal protector (box).

 

Trainers or cricket spikes must be worn for training and matches. Suitable loose clothing or cricket whites must be worn for coaching while cricket whites should be worn for matches


Conduct

As members of the Club, Juniors must:

 

·         Treat everyone equally and respect the rights and dignity of everyone regardless of gender, ability, cultural background or religion.

·         Play within the rules and respect officials and coaches and their decisions.

·         Keep to agreed timings for training and matches or inform their manager or coach if they are going to be late,

·         Wear suitable kit for training or matches as stated in these conditions and as further stipulated by their manager or coach

·         NOT smoke on club premises or whilst representing the club in matches

·         NOT consume alcohol or drugs of any kind on the club premises or whilst representing the club.

·         NOT engage in abusive behaviour or physical assault,

 

Any Junior not complying with this Code of Conduct may be suspended and further breaches may result in the cessation of membership.  The parent who was signatory to the registration form will be notified if such action is taken.

 

Use of photographs and recorded images

It is the Club’s policy not to allow the use of photographs, video images or other images of Juniors to without the consent of the Parent and the Junior and any images taken should be used solely for the purpose they are intended, namely the promotion and celebration of the Club’s cricketing activities. Parents who believe that these images are being used inappropriately should inform the Club Welfare Officer immediately.

 

If photographs e.g. team or action shots, are submitted to the Press or published on the Club website individuals will not be identified.  In circumstances where there is a need to identify an individual player in the Press parental permission will be sought beforehand.

 

Whilst the club understands that there are circumstances under in which parents would not wish their child to be photographed and will take all reasonable steps to ensure the safety of children during games, it is the responsibility of the parent concerned to ensure that if necessary their child is not videoed or photographed. 

 

Transport to matches and training sessions

The Clubs policy is that it is the responsibility of parents to transport or arrange transport of Juniors to and from all matches and training sessions but this policy is not intended to exclude any player from participation. Parents should only contact the appropriate Team Manager if they experience problems with the transportation of players to matches or training sessions.

 

Team Managers or coaches will accept responsibility for Juniors on the Club premises or on arrival at the ground for away matches. If parents do not stay for the match or training session they must collect their promptly after the event. Finishing times for training sessions will be published before the start of each season and anticipated finishing times for matches can be obtained from the Team Manager.

 

In the event of a match or training session finishing early because of bad weather or other reason, a Team Manager or Coach will remain until all Juniors have been collected.

 

Participation in Adult Cricket and Changing Policy

 

It is the Club’s policy to introduce Juniors to adult cricket in situations compatible with their ability and maturity while at the same time, supporting them and encouraging their development. While participating in adult cricket, the Club will adhere to the ECB guidelines for junior players in adult cricket.

 

The Club is unable to provide separate changing facilities for Juniors in this situation and a result, there are circumstances in which they could be changing in the presence of persons over 18 years.  Parents should indicate on the Registration Form whether they consent to this situation or prefer that their child changes at home.

 

It is the responsibility of the parent concerned to ensure that their child does not enter changing facilities at any time if consent is not given

                                                             

Non Playing Membership

 

Unless they are already members in another category, parents of Junior Members are automatically registered as Non-Playing members of the Club without further subscription. Non-Playing Members are not entitled to vote at Annual General Meeting or other meetings unless they are Club Officers.

 

Data Protection

 

The Club will use the information provided on the Membership Form, Medical Form and  other information it obtains about the Junior or Parent solely to administer and supervise cricketing or any other activities at the Club in which they are involved.

 

In some cases this may require the Club to disclose the information to County Boards, Leagues and to the England and Wales Cricket Board. In the event of a medical issue or child protection issue arising, the Club may disclose certain information to doctors or other medical specialists and/or to police, children’s social care, the Courts and/or probation officers and, potentially to legal and other advisers involved in an investigation
